ATEX is the safety standard that governs the design, manufacturing and use of equipment in hazardous areas, and its certification applied to a product should be a critical consideration in any decision making by any company, if they plan to operate in potentially explosive atmospheres which include combustible dust environments.
Our range of filters in the VARIpulse range not only include the most energy efficient cleaning system in the world, they are also ATEX approved, and include our totally unique FLAMELESS venting system VFV.
True ATEX approval does not come from retrofitting an explosion membrane labelled ATEX: ATEX approval is a robust 2 tier process including product assessment and quality assurance. Compliance with this standard will help prevent accidents, but if they do occur, workers will be better protected.
Our SuperBlower range, suitable for medium to very large scale operations handle air volumes of 7,000-280,000 m3/h and we have installed them in recycling plants, manufacturing/production sites as well as in the grain and seed industry.
Blower Filters available in several sizes with options for discharge, are again for high air volumes up to 50,000m3/h. The circular design gives them strength with no compromise on weight loading. Our range of Super-Safe modular filters available as 1 module or 2, and capable of being expanded if requirements change, are the perfect dust collectors for a school environment: meeting the ATEX Equipment Directive 2014/34/EU as listed in the Ministry of Education Guidelines to Schools Oct 2022. The unique VFV (Vertical Flameless Venting) is not offered by any other supplier in NZ, or in fact the world. This safety feature ensures that should an explosion occur, the force of the explosion is blown skywards from the roof mounted explosion membrane, and the escape is merely a shock wave. No flames are emiited as with other dust filters, that may have vertical venting but do not have VFV. The filter also remains intact: due to the design and heavier grade construction, it does not explode into pieces with panels, nuts and bolts flying through the air to harm anyone, (pupils/staff), in its path.
This non explosive feature is essential particularly as school dust extraction is often placed directly outside the technology classroom. The filter is quiet in operation and our Acoustic Booth can be used to house the fan to ensure operation in the teaching environment is not problematic.
Flexible Modular filters can easily have additional modules added using stock immediately available: saving money when you expand.
A low cost filter solution that has been available for years, our Modular filters, (sometimes referred to as baghouses), offer flexibility: further modules can be added when greateer capacity is required due to new machines etc. being added to fulfill changing business needs. Being able to reuse the existing filter and grow, without a total replacement required is a huge cost advantage and all additional filter components, (to add one module or two), are readily available ex stock in our Auckland warehouses.
These filters are easily picked up and craned to a new location, or our own installation team can simply remove side panels to extend your existing modular dust collector to give more filter area as required.
Modular filters are often the choice of smaller joinery workshops, are reliable and low maintenance provided the original filter area is sized correctly to avoid annual replacement of filter socks - our policy of specifying a large filter area, avoids this future cost for you - many of our 10year old installations are still operating with the same filter socks. A cheaper quote is never the cheapest, when you consider the total ongoing cost of your purchase!

As well as our LIPLOCK ducting system, we stock a vast range of accessories to compliment your dust filtration solution. Material handling and clean air fans, VSDs to ensure your fan is operating at the optimal speed for energy efficiency, silencers and acoustic booths to minimise fan noise in senstive areas, duct explosion release for added safety, rotary valves for bin exit and collection, as well as flexible antistatic duct ideal for dust conveyence, and certified as permenantly antistatic with the AS material is in the wall itself.
If you have followed our advice in correctly sizing the filter area initially, you will not be dealing with annual costs associated with a filter bag change - most of our filters installed even 10 years ago are operating with the original filter socks. A cheaper quote for a smaller filter is never the best purchase decision if you factor in the total running costs for the filter. But if you do require new filter socks or cartridges they can usually be sent out the same day as you place your order.
Our accessories are mostly supplied by our key European suppliers and so are compatible with the whole dust filtration system and are available to you quickly ex Auckland.
Choosing by Application/Industry type:
Dust extraction is a precise science and for many purchasing staff in even larger companys, the selection of a new dust filtration system may be a once in a lifetime purchase so any decision should be based on the right factors. You will save money by coming to a company that is installing dust extraction equipment constantly, in a variety of industries, rather than rely on costly consultants who are not experts in this very unique area, nor is the company that completed your air conditioning plant.
Our experienced staff will visit your site to see how you operate, and assess the dust type and associated risk. In some instances, eg. schools, there are documented mandatory requirements for the dust extraction to be ATEX certified. For others it might be an option, but the huge benefits in safety of our ATEX certified dust filters will be explained to you, and they are often very similar in price to filters offering no technically advanced features at all due to the scale of production.
We will have almost definitely worked in plants in your industry before and will share our solutions - different industries require different considerations which we can help navigate for you to ensure your decision included safety and compliance.
Understanding Technical Specifications:
When presented with information about a proposed dust extraction solution, many companies will focus on powerful fan sizes as the key factor in ensuring their system will suck! This is infact not necessarily true: a too powerful fan on a smaller filter area will result in the dust embedding into the fabric of the filter media so deeply that it cannot drop off to be collected at the filter base and removed as is intended. See how this happens ! The result is with in weeks, or certainly months, the blocked filter bags can no longer pass air and the entire dust collector will likely block. This presents itself as a drastic loss of suction, leaving dust to start building up in your extraction ductwork - dangerous as the duct now becomes very heavy, and because any source of ignition now has material to cause a fire and possible explosion.
For the above reason, many companies end up replacing their filter socks every year - a costlty and unnecessary maintenance cost. NZ DUCT+FLEX technical sales staff with ensure you have the correctly sized filter area - a larger filter always lasts longer with none of the above problems.
Current Health and Safety regulations require anyone operating, managing or purchasing equipment for your business must, as far as possible, protect employees- having a correctly sized filter is paramount. A larger fan will consume more energy, but it a waste of money if the actual dust collector is too small.
