Manual Blast Gates and Pneumatic Blast Gates are designed to close off the airflow to one duct at a time. In most factories not all the machinery is working all of the time. If a machine is not running, why supply it with extraction? Shut off the gate and let the remainder of the system get the benefit of the increased suction available.
